BAW - Bolzano Art Weeks
BAW – Bolzano Art Weeks is a collective and inclusive festival created to offer a shared platform for the diverse contemporary art scene of South Tyrol and bring it into dialogue with the public.
BAW is a network-based event developed in collaboration with institutions, associations, artists and cultural practitioners working within the local scene. Each year, the project maps the city through a shared programme involving more than 100 partners. Over ten days, the festival brings together a wide range of events hosted across galleries, museums and studios, as well as independent, public, private and temporary spaces.
During BAW, Bolzano is transformed into an open-air exhibition. Through an annual open call linked to the theme of each edition, artists are invited to present works and projects. Selections are made by an expert committee of professionals in the fields of art and culture, working alongside the many institutions involved in organising the festival.
Originally conceived as a collective relaunch of the local cultural system following a prolonged period of closures in 2021, BAW has since evolved into a key feature of South Tyrol’s annual cultural calendar. Bringing together cultural practitioners and institutions, the festival fosters dialogue across the sector, invites audiences to experience the city in new ways, and extends participation through a programme that spans all neighbourhoods.
